Born 9th June 1954, Tripura, India
Diploma from Government College of Art & Crafts, Agartala, Tripura
In 1983 I went to Ahmedabad and fortunately met Architect Shri Nimish Bhai Patel. He inspired me to do sketches of the Old Heritage Buildings in Ahmedabad. That is the beginning of my journey in the art world. Later in 1986, I joined the Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museum, Bengaluru. Since then “The Garden City of India”- Bengaluru has been a great inspiration throughout my life to sketch the city’s architectural marvels. It’s been a struggle for every artist in India, especially from a middle-class family, it was no different for me. But eventually, I met some great friends and they help me grow. I did approach a few galleries and collectors in the past, but the response wasn’t really positive as the trend was towards only to collect other Master artist’s work. This led to a small break in my art journey and then my family supported me a lot. I must say my son is always been a good motivator to me.
Apart from my paintings, I did more than 180 on-site sketches of Old Heritage buildings of Bengaluru which includes The Cubbon Park, Lalbagh Botanical Garden, and IIM Bangalore.
Some of my sketches have featured at The Raj Bhavan, Karnataka-Trough the Ages”, an illustrative publication sponsored by The Raj Bhavan, Karnataka, tracing the history of the Iconic Building over the last 150 years.
The ‘Manasa Light Age Foundation’, a non-profit charitable trust published a calendar featuring my sketches.
IIT Kharagpur Alumni Association of Bangalore had gifted prints of 10 of my best sketches as a Memento to their Distinguished Guests
Karnataka Lalit Kala academy had published my Vidhana Soudha sketch in a recent book, titled KALA
I also did Heritage buildings and temples of my homeland Tripura recently.
