Naina Maithani Kulkarni’s artistic journey began when she started selling, promoting, and managing an up-market art space in New Delhi’s niche, DLF Emporio Mall, with the Vadhera Art Gallery. Her earliest memories of childhood were magical lights shimmering in the far background, on the misty nights in Mussorie, in Doon.
Though she does not live there anymore but the hills of Garhwal will always be home to her, and Mountain Musings is like her childhood diary – an almost intrinsic, eye-catching journal, capturing the different moods of the angelic hills through her eyes. On her canvases, she depicts her experiences and elicitations of her stay at the mountains – its picturesque stories, chasing after butterflies, the echoes of winds, the fragments of clouds, thousands of periwinkles, its numerous dawns and dusks.
Her abstracts depict and carry the magic of these mountains; and through Mountain Musings, she once again relives, remembers, and cherishes her homeland – Devbhoomi, as we call it. These works reflect the little pieces and snippets of this heaven that she carries with her, compiled as an Ode to her roots.
So join us at Sublime Galleria to witness the depictions of, what to this seasoned artists are, the fairest thing in nature – the mountains of the divine Himalayas.
